How well does my child need to speak English?

We recommend they know the basics to be able to communicate basic needs.  Their English will improve immensely at summer camp.

Do you cater for groups only?

No, children can come to camp separately. They will be well taken care of and integrated into the whole group quickly via sports and fun activities.

What is included in the price of £1799?

Price is All Inclusive – we do not cover air fares or transport to and from airports. However, we can organise transfer for you if you wish, however we do not cover the costs.

Can I pay in equal instalments?

Yes! We will discuss this with you at booking.

Will there be a translator?

Possibly not. Please check with the camp on what nationalities are represented. We would encourage that children speak English whenever possible to really come out of camp with a confident level of spoken English.

Can my son or daughter go to camp as a brand-new camper and not feel left out?

Absolutely! Camp is a place where anyone can be part of the community, and we take huge steps to make sure everyone feels welcome.

Does the camp have an English as a second language class?

Yes; our partner is Milner School of English and they are certified by British Council. The child will receive a diploma at completion.

How do room arrangements work?

Dorms are arranged by gender and age where possible. 8-10 rooms per dorm with en-suite bathrooms. Each dorm has a large fully supplied kitchen.

What safety measures do camps take?

All coaches are DBS checked and are first aid trained. All coaches have attended extensive Safeguarding courses. Roehampton University dorms have 24/7 guard on site. The coaches also reside at the venue, so children have 24/7 access to them.

Should my child bring cash to camp?

Children can keep a small amount of cash with them – all activities are already included in the price of the Camp.  As the child has his/her own room cash and important documents (passport, plane tickets, etc) will be safe. Children can also hand their documents to their designated coach and they will keep it in a safe until your child departs camp.

What if my child wants to go home?

Homesickness is natural for any child who goes to camp, so of course it is prevalent for children leaving their home country. However, it is natural, and most campers adjust in 2-3 days.

How often can I speak to my child?

We will email you as soon as the child arrives at Roehampton University.  We do not encourage you to call your child - remember, camp is a great platform for independence.  Giving your child space will help build their confidence and allow them to rely on their own strengths, and on the friends and staff at camp to support them. However, we will have a designated time during the day for communication and will let you know before the camp begins.

Can children from the UK attend CEI?

Yes! Children from the UK are highly encouraged to attend CEI. We will tailor the morning English language session to ‘Leader in Me’ sessions.
